Julia Musisi
Founder
Julia Musisi was born in a very humble village called Kikyusa outside of Kampala 30 miles from the capital city of Uganda. Her father was a butcher and a farmer, and her mother worked in the home. She completed her high school education in Uganda and attended the Nakawa Business school.
Julia served as a Councilwoman in Luwero, and approached WorldVision International to obtain materials to make bricks and tiles, employing village women.
She started her own business selling retail merchandise before she joined her brother in Los Angeles in 1995. She graduated from a Nursing assistant program at Preferred Schools of Nurses in Glendale, CA, and obtained her nurse’s assistance license.
Julia has worked as a nurse’s assistant for the past 21 years, and is currently employed in Marin County, about 20 miles north of San Francisco.
In 2010, Julia founded VHC –GCC and helped the organization obtain its NGO status in 2013. She works primarily in the U.S. to secure resources to further the efforts of VHC-GCC.
Irene Mibiru
Executive Director
In her role as Executive Director, Irene oversees all of the organization’s activities, and supervises VHC-GCC’s vocation training program. She serves as the organization’s Chief Financial Officer. Irene visits homes and schools and works with school authorities and families to identify needy girl-children who can benefit from VHC-GCC services.
Irene has of Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Uganda Christian University-Mukono (UCU), a diploma in Children ministry from Uganda Martyrs Namugongo.
Her aim is to influence all the young girls who are orphaned, vulnerable, and abused to make quality informed life decisions.
Grace Nakiyaga
Director of Operations
Grace is the Director of Orphanage Operations and Community Education. She brings ten years of National development and management experience at operational, tactical and strategic levels to VHC. She has worked for Grassland Foundation, VEDCO, Parliament, and the Luweero Diocese.
Grace has demonstrated abilities in administration and management of strategic collaboration to implement integrated development programs in very poor communities and remote areas in Uganda. Grace holds a Master of Management of Organizations degree, a Bachelors of Education, a Certificate in Administrative Officers Law Course and a Certificate in Public Administration and Management. She attended Makerere University, Islamic University in Uganda, and the Law Development Centre institutional education.
She is an advocate for a girl-child rights and concerns and has signed both National and International treaties to protect children.
